How to Handle RejectionUnderstanding and handling rejection is the key to the whole subject of confidence. If you knew you would never be rejected, your confidence would be supreme. And if you had such wonderful confidence, you would, in turn, tend not to be rejected. Success feeds on success. This is the theory behind positive thinking, and there is much merit in it. But there is a great flaw in the theory as applied to picking up girls. The flaw is that you will get rejections, no matter how good you are. As we have already mentioned, half the girls you approach may not even be available. Others just may not be impressed by your type of person. Tastes do vary and you can't change that. So, you will get rejections, plenty of them. You have to get used to the idea. But remember, don't take rejections easily; they may not be real. Be persistent. Sometimes you will be rejected after you have talked to a girl for a long time, even hours or days after you meet her. What should you do about rejection? You should take the salesman's approach. He knows that if he tries to sell to a number of prospects, a certain percentage will buy, and the rest will reject his sales pitch. So he takes the rejections cheerfully and enjoys his profits. The rejections are a little unpleasant, of course. But he was expecting them and after a few rejections, he gets used to them. Desensitized. The profit was well worth the slight unpleasantness. He shrugs each rejection off and moves on to the next prospect. You should take the same attitude. You should not fear your rejections, particularly if the rejections were not because of any fault of yours. It is really not such a big deal. You should not place so high a value on your ego that you can't accept a few reverses. You are simply playing a game of chance and you lose a few plays. Just hang in there and keep trying.
